Um dia só para mim!

Um dia inteitinho para mimmmmmm! Iupiiiii!
Puxa, como eu necessitava disso! Depois que eu comecei a estagiar (24/03), eu nunca mais tive um dia só para mim. Um dia para acordar tarde, tomar café da manhã, assistir um filme deitada no sofá, sem ter que pensar nas faculdades ou ir para o estágio. Ufa!
Bendito seja aquele que inventou o feriado!!!

Pois então, hoje passei o dia inteiro de bobeira. Ops! Não foi o dia inteiro, só depois das 15:00h. Isso porque eu tive que arrumar a casa. Pelo menos eu acordei tarde!!! 11:00hhhhhhhhh!

Ai, ai, vida boa... Em falar em vida boa... Bom mesmo foi ontem!!! Depois do estágio (em pleno domingo - ninguém merece!), eu fui para um encontro de au pairs. Um encontro organizado pela comunidade do orkut: Au Pair do Rio de Janeiro. Fomos para o shopping Nova América. Lá eu conheci a Carlinha, a Gisele e a Bella. Almoçamos e horas e mais horas sobre au pair, host families, kids, matches, enfim, tudo o que vocês podem imaginar!
Foi muito bommmm! Falar para quem quer escutar todo o seu processo. Quando estamos envolvidas com o intercâmbio, só falamos disso. Acabamos, naturalmente, nos tornando muito chatos. Mas quando conversamos com a pessoa certa, então é outra coisa! Temos prazer em ouvir sem constrangimentos em falar.

Em relação a minha hostfamily, temos conversado por e-mails.
Fiz um apresentação no Power Point para eles sobre o Rio de Janeiro, com alguns pontos turísticos e as faculdades onde estudo. Coloquei algumas fotos minhas também nos pontos turísticos.
Segundo a Jean ( ai, caramba, ainda não consigo esquecer que escrevi um e-mail com Mr. Jean e Mrs. Shawn...), eles gostaram muito. Ela me prometeu enviar algumas fotos da casa. Assim que receber eu posto aqui.

Fui na World Study terça-feira passada. Paguei tudo o que devia a eles. Agora só falta o visto! Aiiiiiiii, o tão sonhado visto! O temeroso VISTO!
Como disse a Bella: " o laço do presente". E é mesmo!
Segundo a agência, estarei com o visto marcado lá para a segunda semana de maio. Vamos esperar, né?! Aiiii, passa logo, passa logo!
Também recebi uma página só com possíveis perguntas no dia da entrevista para o visto. Uma listinha razoável...Caramba...Depois eu posto aqui. Estão todas em inglês.

Bom, gente, eu estava falando neste exato momento com a Dani, a au pair neste momento da minha hostfamily, mas o msn tá caindo o tempo todo e não quer mais entrar. Ela estava me contando sobre a rotina dela, mas pelo jeito vai ficar para outro dia.
De qualquer forma, já fica meu MUITO OBRIGADA pela curta conversa. Ela é um amor de pessoa. Super atenciosa e paciente. Só espero que esta paciência não tenha vindo devido às crianças. risos

Inglês no aeroporto!

Amigos, achei uma matéria muito legal com algumas dicas sobre o inglês que é usado no aeroporto. É simples, mas interessante. E pode ajudar muita gente. A matéria foi publicada pelo EnglishTown no site www.msn.com.

Do you have an e-ticket or a paper ticket? - Um e-ticket é um electronic ticket, e significa que sua compra está arquivada no sistema de computadores de uma companhia aérea. Here's your boarding pass. - Seu boarding pass é o documento entregue no aeroporto com o número de seu assento e as informações de embarque. Você precisa dele para passar pela segurança e entrar no seu vôo.

Is this flight non-stop or does it have a layover? - Um layover é uma parada em um ponto intermediário da viagem. Non-stop quer dizer que você voa diretamente para seu destino sem paradas no caminho.

After the security check, board your flight at gate 3. - O security check é onde você e sua bagagem de mão são checados por itens perigosos. Gate refere-se à área onde você espera e depois board - embarca - no avião.

Is my flight delayed or on-time? - Quando seu vôo for atrasar, você irá ouvir que ele foi b>delayed. On-time quer dizer que seu vôo sairá no horário planejado.

Pick up your bags at baggage claim. - Baggage claim é a área onde você recupera sua checked baggage - as malas que você não trouxe consigo no avião."

Depois eu volto contando as novidades, na realidade, elas precisam acontecer primeiro... Ainda estou esperando documentos da Au Pair Care chegar em minha agência para marcar a entrevista do meu visto.

Trazendo de navio

A gente pensa muito no que vai levar para os Estados Unidos. A gente vai arrumando...arrumando...arrumando... e quando vê a mala está enorme! Pois é, mais lembre-se que na volta, a mala pode até triplicar de peso!
Estava procurando o que levar para os States, e acabei achando dois comentários muito bons sobre como trazer de volta o que compramos lá.
Vou postar na íntegra os comentários. Para quem quiser saber mais, foi retirado da comunidade "Au Pair nos EUA" do fórum " Malas- o que levar".

Enrtao, para mandar coisas por navio posso dizer como funciona em Massachusetts. Fora de lá nao sei.
Fui recomendada por uma amiga brasileira que nao era au pair, morava em Boston com a mae a bastante tempo. Recomendo fazer o mesmo: perguntem para outras au pairs brasileiras da área, perguntem em lojinhas brasileiras... internet é mais dificil, mas pode até ser tbm.

Se achar, o esquema nao deve ser muito diferente: voce compra uma caixa numa empresa dse mudança (tem U-Hal em todo país) e enche a caixa. liga para a empresa e eles vem pegar na sua porta. Paga pro cara, paga o seguro se quiser, assina papel, pega o recibo e reza pra tudo chegar em ordem.
No meu caso usei a empresa Confiança e eles entregaram tudo embaladinho, levaram até o meio da minha sala no quinto andar. Foram ótimos mesmo.

Mas eu tbm nao coloquei nadinha de valor. Coloquei tudo que sabia que podia viver sem (triste, mas podia!). Bichos de pelucia, casacos, sapatos, muitos livros, muito papel, revistas, lembrancinhas...
A caixa do tamanho de um fogão é 140 dolares e a do tamanho de uma geladeira é 190 ou 200, nao lembro. "

"Eu mandei minhas coisas pelo correio, 3 caixas enorme, 2 caixas de microondas 28 litros (isso mesmo caixa usada e embalada com muita tape)
E mais uma caixa lá um pouco menor....
Mandei via maritimo e paguei um seguro lá que te davam 50 dólares por caixa caso perdessem etc etc....

Paguei 68 dólares nas da que eram do microondas e 45 acho na menor.... e ainda voltei com 2 malas enormes no limite!!!! e mais uma mala de mão (de rodinha) e mais um monte de crequecho na mão tipo eletronicos e um monte de coisa que comprei em NY enquanto esperava meu voo.... vim abarrotada de coisas...

Eu cheguei em Junho e minhas caixas só chegaram em agosto, foram qause 3 meses....mas chegaram inteiras e não foram abertas.....


Coloquei roupas de inverno, presentes que eu ganhei, cartões de despedida, muitos porta retratos e um monte de bugiganga...tipo bolsa sapato a maioria que era de inverno...nada de tanto valor! "

É isso aí, amigos, acho muito válido para nós sabermos disso.
